Today I got to tag along and see a design project by local designer Christopher Kennedy. I had been told that the setting was awesome and they were not kidding. The house is located in Yucca Valley, CA. way up in the hills off a very bumpy dirt road. The house is constructed of steel and glass and is every modernist dream. Ya I climbed up there to take the pic above. I sold them the lamp!Today was a fun day treasure hunting in Yucca Valley. Stopped at all the regular places. It was slim pickings but I did manage to come home with two great mid-century hanging lights with amber glass and a fun lucite and white ice bucket. The lights have already been taken apart for cleaning and a fresh coat of spray paint. They will be featured tomarrow when I get them back together.

This is an awesome new sculpture by Rik Phillips. The piece was created from a vacuum cleaner that I found on one of my treasure hunts. You will be seeing alot of great stuff from Rik Phillips on this blog so stay tuned.
This was a fast and easy fix. Now a great look for any retro Palm Springs home. The birds are metal and were found in a poor state after being in someones pond for what looked like years. Quick fix: Clean and spraypaint. I choose silver but any color would have been fun. Let me know what you think. The birds are 17 and 15 inches tall. For sale now on the vintage accessories page.
Today was a slow day on the hunt for treasure, but I did manage to go home with this really beautiful hand made lamp. The glaze is beautiful and would look great with a new shade.
Friends and fellow artists Jean Bradley and Rik Phillips recently traded me their wonderful talents for mine. They are recreating a wonderful mid-century trailer for a weekend retreat in a great location in Palm Springs. Here are the doors that I painted for their bedroom and bathroom. What a great idea!
Found a couple of great things that will be available on my website and at the new boutique.
First, this awesome vintage 60's coffee table made of woven fiber glass. Next, an awesome vintage chair from Norway. Check out this very cool pottery find with a lid. |
